We would love to welcome you to our home where you can enjoy wild strawberries from the front yard in June and Asian pears from the backyard in October and a variety of other items from our garden in between. We have been hosting people from all over the world for over 15 years and have a lot of experience helping people get to know Ottawa and to get the most out of their stay. We are a family of three (mom, dad, 19-year old son) plus two funny, friendly young cats. We have experience living and travelling abroad ourselves and have benefited from the kindness of families in other countries. Your room is on the 2nd floor with a large window overlooking the back deck. The room measures 3.05 X 2.9 meters (10 X 9.5 feet) and has six electrical outlets - paired up in three locations and a high speed internet cable connector. We also have high-speed WiFi. Right now, the room has two single bunk beds from our last pair of guests but if you prefer a larger bed, we can have one ready to move in. The room also includes a desk, a table, and several sets of shelves. You will have access to the common areas in the rest of the house - kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry, two bathrooms, back deck, exercise area, etc. Our household is completely non-smoking. We live in a quiet neighborhood walking distance to shops, restaurants and parks. It is 30 minutes by bus to Algonquin College from the Hazeldean Mall. It is a five minute drive to the mall and we would be happy to get you to the bus and pick you up as needed. There is also bus service near our house to downtown (UOttawa). We have a bike you can use to get around the neighborhood to shops, restaurants, parks and the famous Trans-Canada Trail. To be eligible for this homestay, you must not be allergic to cats. Note that the $750/month fee listed is for single occupancy including meals. It is $1000/month for double occupancy.
