When my now adult children were younger, I ran my home back in British Columbia as a homestay for foreign exchange students.
Partly to help with paying the bills, but more so to expand my children's knowledge of other cultures, and to foster the understanding that at the core, we are all very similar.
Now here in Edmonton, I decided that since we have an extra room, and are so close to transit and the University of Alberta, that it was time to offer our home to visiting students, and others needing a shorter term place to call Home.
In this home there are five adults ranging in age from 22 to 62. Varied interests and activities. LGBTQ+ friendly home.
We also have a larger dog Phoebe who loves everyone and is so excited to meet new people, and three cats who live downstairs named Felix and Willow and Dorito. They are adorable too.
While the listing says the hosts do not smoke, there is medicinal use of marijuana on the property. Please understand This is NOT a partier type of home.
There is no tobacco being smoked in the home or on the property. If you are a smoker, that is only outside.
Your room is on the main level and is right next door to the main bathroom. Bill and I (the home owners) live on this level too, and we have our own bathroom so the main one will be free most of the time. It has a tub/shower combination. Towels and shampoo, conditioner, and soap are always stocked too.
We do family dinner where all of us, or whomever is home that night, join together for the meal.
Generally, breakfast and lunch are self serve. Lots available.
