We decided to run a homestay because we are now empty nesters and we have a third floor that is empty. So, we decided that it would be interesting to host students who might be interested in the African American experience. We have visited Paris, Milan Italy, Venice, Brazil, Sweden, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.
I belong to an International group of women called the Red Hatters where we wear a Red Hat and Purple attire. We meet once a month at various locations and I love the camaraderie that I have with the ladies of the group.
Our interests are movies, gardening, entertaining our family members, concerts, theatre, history, museums and dancing.
The rules in the house are no smoking or alcohol in the house or around the house. No overnight guests, no loud noise.
At the present time we do not have laundry facilities in our house but there are laundry facilities around the corner from our house. In addition there are numerous hair and nail salons, supermarkets, bus stops, public parks and local eateries. There is also a Regional train station nearby that will take you to downtown Philadelphia in 18 minutes.
Nearby schools are Philadelphia University, LaSalle, Temple University, Chestnut Hill College, PCOM.
