Charming House by the Byward Market; no need of a bus pass: walk everywhere!
I have one room for rent in a charming little house located in a quiet area, popular with foreign students due to the location. It is one of the best kept secret area in Ottawa: a 10 minute walk to the Byward Market with its restaurants, shops and the farmers’ market, and in the other direction, it is a 2 minute walk to parks, tennis court, bicycle paths and the river. There is also a bus stop a 2 minute walk from the house.
My home is fully equipped with everything you will need: washer and dryer; full access to the kitchen, Smart TV and internet. The room is a fair size with a double bed and ample space for clothing, books, etc. I am also flexible to change some of the furniture based on preference. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and a therapeutic bathtube. I also have a very nice city garden that is great for relaxing, BBQing, enjoy a drink or do some reading.
All supplies, such as towels, bed sheets, soap/softener, paper towels, etc. are provided. All you need to bring is your clothing, books and personal items.
I share my home with Pitchou, the house cat who spend most of his time outside. Pitchou does not go into the bedroom unless the student wants it to.
While the meals are not provided, I enjoy cooking and very often there will be dinner or lunch provided. Most of the basics for cooking are provided, such as spices, flour, sugar, mayo, mustard, as well as coffee and tea. I have had foreign students sharing the house for many years and it is a rich experience that I enjoy very much.
There are a fair number of foreign students and young people in the community and we organize activities and dinners often.
