I am new as a homestay host, but have been around students all my life as I am a retired University professor. I live in a 3-bedroom house. You will have the master bed with 2 mirrored closets, and bathroom into a private area with it's own independent entrance via a side gate to the outside. It is set up so that you are completely independent and on your own.
The area is in a quiet, pleasant community located approximately 3.7 miles from UCLA, 0.7 miles from major metro and bus stations, 1.5 short blocks (or 1 long block) to a commuter bus. Shopping area with plenty of parking is close by for groceries, Starbucks, pizza, drug store, commercial coin-operated laundry. The Los Angeles International Airport is approximately 10 miles away (8.4 to 12 miles depending on the route you take.
I enjoy learning new languages, but am fluent only in English. I've traveled extensively internationally and nationally for professional conferences as well as vacations. You are welcome to make yourself at home, but I ask that you accommodate the following:
Please, no pets or smoking (allergies to both), and no candles; burning scents, nor lit fires of any kind; visitors are not allowed to congregate in the room or area; AC for house is kept between 69 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (if temperature is uncomfortable, please let me know). There is a refrigerator and a microwave in the room, but no cooking is allowed except by microwave. Please let me know what you need as I'm responsive to students' feedback, always.
I am also open to graduate students or employed women who need a place to stay during the week and who want to go home to their families on weekends.
