Welcome to the Beakley household. There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in our house. We look forward to hosting you. We have a family of four. My wife and I have been married for a little more than two years. We each brought a daughter into the family with us.
My name is Josh Beakley, and I am the fortunate father of this family. I have been a Civil Engineer for over 25 years. I enjoy what I do because I get a chance to help others solve technical problems. Its rewarding, and makes me think. I like to exercise regularly. I am not very handy with power tools, but I do enjoy working outside, and cooking with my daughters.
My wife’s name is Hua He, but she goes by Catherine. She came to the US a few years ago from China, along with our oldest daughter. Catherine is a Medical Assistant at a pediatrician’s office, and worked as a nurse in China for over 15 years. She enjoys gardening and cooking, and being outdoors. We really don’t go out to eat very often. My wife and I prefer to cook healthy meals at home. We love each other very much, and try to maintain a fun and positive household.
Vicky is our oldest daughter. She is from Catherine’s previous marriage. Vicky is 17 years old, and will be going to college in the fall. Although they come from different backgrounds, both our daughters are very bright kids, and are actually a year ahead in their schooling. Vicky is the type of person that lights up a room when she enters it. She is always singing, and very happy. She plays piano and guitar. Vicky has done some volunteer work at animal shelters, and currently works part time for a shipping company. Unfortunately, you will not get to see a lot of Vicky while you are with us, because she is going away to college. At the moment, she is planning to become a Veterinarian, but you never know what the future will hold. We will miss her, but we will get to see her at holidays, and perhaps periodic visits.
Michelle is our youngest daughter. She is 13 years old, and will be starting high school in the Fall. She is from my previous marriage. Michelle goes back-and-forth between our house, and her mom’s, so you will only get to see her every other weekend, and on special occasions. Michelle is the quiet one, and likes to read in here room. However, if you get hear talking about something that really interests her, she is a very witty conversationalist. I usually get some good recommendations on books to read from Michelle. I take them with me and read them on the plane when I travel. Michelle also really enjoys choir and dance.
Catherine and I have been fortunate to have a couple of busy years with our children, and learning a lot as they become young adults. The house will be a little less exciting this year with Vicky gone, and we would welcome another addition into our household. Catherine and I have learned a lot from each other and the different cultures from which we came. We are open to all cultures, and would welcome the opportunity to share our home, and a learning experience with you.
