Welcome!

Hi, my name is Helena, and I’m excited to open my home to international students looking for a safe, comfortable, and supportive place to stay while they study here. I live here with my small dog called Lily who is 13 year old (almost 14) - she is much like a cat and likes her own space by the window.

My home is very special to me, it is spacious, clean and stylish. The homestay room has a queen bed, fresh bed sheets and bath towels in the closet. Lots of space for your belongings, ceiling fan, A/C, TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. The homestay area will be semi-private with your own entrance and bathroom. Laundry is in the apartment in the front hall.

I have decided to run a homestay because I enjoy learning about different cultures and sharing my own. I also like meeting new people and creating a welcoming environment for students who are far from home. It’s always rewarding to help someone feel settled and supported as they adjust to a new country.

I have just started hosting however I have lived in many different countries, travelled lots and used to work for a middle eastern airline in my early 20s. I’ve traveled myself to places like Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, north, west and some southern parts of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, a few countries in Africa and the Middle East. I understand what it’s like to be in a new country, and I try to make my home a space where guests can feel comfortable and at ease.

Right now I am working remotely for my family owned company. I am also learning the Italian language to soon study some art in Italy.
In my free time, I enjoy creating art, cooking, hiking, yoga and puzzling. I’m also involved in a yoga and pilates community and the Italian Cultural Centre. I know lots about indoor and outdoor activities in Vancouver - I am happy to give some tips if needed :).

House Rules:

No smoking inside the home

Quiet hours after 10.30pm to respect everyone's rest

Please keep shared spaces tidy

Please do not scare my dog - she is well trained and behaved but she does not like to be lifted

Overnight guests are not permitted unless discussed in advance

Respect for each other’s privacy and culture is very important
