We have had experience with both short term and long term students. Last spring/summer we hosted 6 differenct students for short term placement and we had one student for the full school year this last year.

We enjoy spending time with the students, hearing about their cultures and customs Talking about food and travel and finding our common ground. We have only had good hosting experiences and feel every student who has come into our home has become part of our family.

I have traveled up north in British Columbia, driven between Vancouver and Winnipeg as well as flown to Austin Texas, Belize Central America, Mexico, and Russia!

Everyone in our family loves animals, we have a dog who is a very loving spoiled dog who loves cuddles and being with his people. We enjoy watching movies, going for walks in the forest trails around our home - going to the dog beach, small hikes and museums.

Our rules are pretty simple common sense curtesy rules. Don't be loud talking or watching TV after 10pm, be respectful of others sleep schedules and we will also be respectful of yours. No food in your rooms and clean up after yourself if you make a mess in the other rooms of the house. You will have full access to the main living areas of the house and are encouraged to spend time with us in the evenings to practice your english, ask questions, tell us about your life and to watch TV or movies. If you have special food that you need bought or cooked we can discuss what I will and won't be able to provide for you. (I've had students with food restrictions and we've been able to work through without any issues so far.) I don't eat or cook fish but I have no problem if you know how and want to cook and eat fish? For meat we mostly eat chicken with some different beef dishes and occasionally pork. I'll buy any vegetables and fruits that you want to eat.

Privacy is important - we don't go in your room once you move in and we expect you not to go into ours. You are responsible to wash your own bedding and clothing, laundry soap provided and you need to keep your room clean. The bathroom is shared so everyone who uses it takes turns to keep it clean. There are no overnight guests - if you have people visiting you from out of town I will help you find a hotel nearby for them to book a room at.

If you have any questions or concerns please ask! I'm always willing to be flexable and work with my students to ensure they have a happy experience in Canada. When your time here is over - we want you to leave having enjoyed being with us and we want you to feel like you'd want to come back and visit like family.
