Just eight miles northwest of Boston is the Birthplace of Liberty—Lexington, Massachusetts. The town earned its nickname because of a 1775 battle on the Lexington Green between 77 local militia and 700 British light infantry which is considered to be the first battle of the American Revolution. Today, the town maintains its independent spirit, and Lexington real estate is particularly attractive for those looking for a vibrant community outside of Boston.
